The recommended interval between these inspections should not exceed six months. One of the MCL certified alarm engineers will visit your premises and carry out the following during these sixth months period..

• Checking false alarm records.
• Battery checking and testing.
• Checking and testing of control panel functions.
• Testing of fire alarm devices.
• Checking automatic transmission of alarm signals to an alarm receiving centre (ARC).
• Checking and testing of all fault indicators and circuits.
• Other checks and tests recommended by the manufacturer.
• Reporting of outstanding defects.
• Completing log book.
• Issuing servicing certificate.

The only reliable and measurable means of ensuring that your existing fire detection system remains compliant and fully functional is to instigate a plan of regular routine maintenance and testing carried out by a ‘competent person’ supplemented by weekly user tests.

Intelligent Security and Fire test and inspect fire alarm systems in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and British Standards BS5839:2002.

 BS5839:2002 recommends weekly user tests consisting of the operation of one manual call point, ensuring that the alarm panel processes the fire signal and activates the alarm sounders. Each test should be recorded in the fire alarm log book. During the installation and maintenance of your alarms and emergency lighting one of our engineers will help you set up this process and answer any queries you may have.
