A new install of a Fire alarm system can be split into several parts and install in accordance with BS5839 standards

Design, install, Commissioning and Handover

Design

Based on consultation with relevant parties, IE Building control, local council, architects Risk assessors and insurance to agree the grade and type of system most suitable.

The fire alarm designer would design the system based on the grade specified taking into account all the details from cable types to suitable detection devices to provide the coverage required.

Installation

The job would then move to the installation team after the design has been done and agreed.
The install team would then begin planning and installing the system as designed carrying out the 1st fixing (cable installation and containment methods) and 2nd fixing (installation of field devices in required locations) and finally any programming required.

Commissioning

At this stage our engineer would attend site and fully inspect and tested your fire alarm system and confirm that it conforms to all requirements as per BS5839 and is fit for purpose we will issue you with a commissioning certificate.

Handover

This is the process in which the system is then passed to the end user/ client. The engineer would go through all the aspects of the system and its coverage and demonstrate how to operate the system from weekly testing to false alarm management and any specific functions dependant on site requirements
